The “S/42” marking on the front toggle link uses a different type-face than was used on G-code pistols. Based on the condition of markings on surfaces which have been refinished, we believe that some markings are not genuine. There is a spot of wear near the bottom of the frontstrap. ![]() There is finish wear on the top of the barrel extension to each side of the bolt and toggle-train. There are patches of touch-ups on the frontstrap toward the bottom and on top of the front toggle link, these touch-ups have a reddish color. There is scattered minor erosion under the finish. Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 87% of its current metal finish. There is light-moderate erosion and pitting scattered through the bore. Type of Finish: Blued, Small Parts Strawed, Interior Brightįinish Originality: Refinished, some parts may be Force-Matched and some markings such as the “S/42” are not genuine.īore Condition: The bore is gray with well defined rifling. Overall, the grips are in Very Good condition as likely not original to the gun. The checkering has blunt points, but the lines are well defined. There are some areas with more notably worn checkering around the edges, most notable at the top-front of the right panel. The grips have fairly even handling wear. Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood. The rear sight is a “V”-notch integral to the rear toggle link. Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated blade dovetailed to a base at the muzzle. The inside of the left grip panel also has “R.L. The inside of each grip panel is marked “8868” and with “W|154” acceptance marks. The magazine floorplate is marked “7033 / n” and with eagle over “63” (later Mauser production). The bottom of the barrel is marked “8868 / 8,81”. The top-left of the barrel has a “W|154” acceptance mark. The right-rear of the barrel has an eagle inspection mark. The right of the barrel extension has “W|154” and “S|92” acceptance marks as well as eagle Army Test Proof. The left of the breech-block has an eagle inspection mark. The front face of the frame is marked “8868 / a”. The left of the extractor is marked “GELADEN”. The top of the front link is also marked “S/42” (Mauser production code). The extractor is marked “68”, found again on the trigger, sideplate, takedown lever, safety, bolt stop, the left of the firing pin, breech-block, top of the front toggle link, rear of the back toggle link, the toggle pin, and the sear. ![]() Markings: The barrel extension is marked “G” on the chamber ring (code for 1935 production), the left is marked “8868”.
